An abandoned place

The restoration of Castello di Petrata begins in 1997 when Ing. Romualdo Landrini and Arch. Giuseppina Orbi buy the ancient manor that has been in the state of abandonment for almost 50 years.

The whole area, the hill behind Assisi, is almost completely abandoned and forgotten, the road is unpaved and, to reach the Castle, narrow streets traverse the huts left by the hunters; It was not possible to even admire the beautiful view of the valley because of the thick vegetation that encircled the fortress.

The restoration work has been very intense, lasting 5 years, has seen a careful recovery of all the materials present, the search for restoration materials coming from neighboring areas and a maniacal study of the details. Extreme attention has been paid to structural recovery with the careful application of all anti-seismic regulations. From an architectural point of view, though not changing the exterior aspect of the castle, a personalized study was conducted for each room, each room is different from each other, each place has its own well defined identity.

Since the completion of the internal work since 2001, the development of what is now one of the jewelery of the relais, the garden, is spreading on different levels, is enriched with native plants and a thousand colors.

Swimming pool, sports facilities, wellness center, solarium and a 50-hectare park complete the range of exclusive services that you can take advantage of.
